Our goal is still the same: to leverage innovation to drive better outcomes for Aotearoa.
We know it will take true collaboration if we are to tackle some of our biggest social and environmental challenges. This is why this year we are adding a startup & NGO track to the GovTech Accelerator. We want to foster true cross-sector collaboration and we couldn’t think of a better way to do it than to bring all the players into one room.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for Startups and NGOs who are tackling social or environmental problems and want to collaborate with the Government in order to do so.
Startups bring new solutions to public problems, innovation success stories and massive cost savings that are rarely matched in the public sector. In return, Government has the scale and access to policy makers that startups/NGOs in the social and environmental space need to accelerate their innovative solutions.
We have limited spots available for teams to join the 2022 GovTech Accelerator, kicking off in August 2022.
The opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to accelerate change and improve environmental and social outcomes for both the economy and society, through cross-sector collaboration.
To help you start on the right foot, you can expect:
- Connection opportunities by working side to side with government agencies;
- Mentorship and coaching to provide strategic, high-level advice;
- Tools and resources to help you advance at each stage of your growth;
- A supportive CHQ community of founders, experts and mentors;
- Gain visibility for your project at the final Demo Day, in front of an audience of government peers, ministers and media;
- A space to work from. Use it full time or pop in every now and then.

About GovTech
A globally unique accelerator programme. The GovTech Accelerator provides an opportunity for local and central government agencies to tackle some of the biggest and more urgent issues facing Aotearoa and the world. GovTech is part of Creative HQ, an organisation working to support the people in government who want to take a different approach to problem-solving. Creative HQ is a wholly-owned subsidiary of WellingtonNZ.
The GovTech Accelerator is a 13-week government innovation programme that takes place annually in Wellington (though teams and individuals can work remotely as well). The accelerator takes projects and staff from government agencies that are tackling complex problems and applies innovation methodologies to create solutions that work. The programme aims to solve root-cause problems, facilitate collaboration, and upskill participants – driving better outcomes for citizens.
